Surrealist Art:
The Lindy and Edwin Bergman Collection at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Surrealist Art, written by Dawn Ades, is one of the finest and most famous collections of Surrealist art ever assembled by Lindy and Edwin Bergman. The thirty-three artists and 116 works featured in this book constitutes a veritable who's who of the Surrealist movement. Originally published in 1997, Dawn Ades accounts the works of the Bergman Collection as well as contributing information on provenance, literature, exhibition history and Ades knowledgeable commentary. The result of the book is profound, providing both a collection and an interpretive history of this intriguing influential art movement.

I have redesigned Surrealist Art to represent and engage the artistic audience Ades desired to have. The new design uses fun vectors and illustrations (designed by myself) to encapsulate and intrigue a new audience - one that is interested in learning about the Surrealist art movement in a fun and informative way. Unlike the original design this redesign uses bold typeface's to draw hierarchy and information from the page. This typeface now stands out from it's respective body copy, in the format of headers and call out quotes, allowing the book to be easily read for both educational and pleasure purposes.
